The D/Hr shippers are an odd crew. We come from all walks of life, we see the characters in several different ways, and we have completely different ideas about how Draco and Hermione’s eventual relationship could work out. But we have one thing in common: we believe that these two will reach their greatest (whether worst or best, greatest) potential together.

Some of us prefer Draco wearing leather pants and Hermione in Tommy Hilfiger, or Draco in a Prada suit/robes and Hermione in a Vera Wang evening gown, to the two of them in cheap t-shirts trying desperately to make a living in a cold, cruel world. Some of us prefer Draco holding Hermione captive to secretly keep her safe, or Hermione teaching Draco how to hide out in the Muggle world, or either of them betraying their own side for the other, or them both standing together in public to make the statement that yes, indeed, love can conquer all when you know the right people and have some skill with your wand. We like subterfuge, or espionage, or blinding honesty that leaves you breathless (and sometimes home- and friendless). We want to see them cry, laugh, smirk, sleep, sob, fall, hurt, hold each other, fall down and then stand back up again.

We regularly put them through all kinds of hell, and only sometimes do they find their heaven.

And we do this all in our spare time, when we aren't working or sleeping or eating or taking care of our children or our schoolwork. We're quite the devoted bunch. And why? Because we can see the potential for these two characters to reach their greatest potential-- together. They each have the potential to be two dimensional or to cross all barriers, to be evil or to be altruistic, to fly or to fall. But the greatest of these potentials involve risk, involve pain, involve trust, and where will you find more of any of that than in this relationship?

They are Draco, the high-born and low-minded; and Hermione, the low-born and high-minded. When they reach out to each other, all the barriers shatter loose and the future that you expected falls into rubble. Welcome to the way things ought to be.
